ACBuG have published their annual report covering the 12 months ending 31 August 2020.

Andrew Warrington, Chair of ACBuG, commented:

The Town Bus Service was launched on 05 August 2019 and over the first seven months established itself, operating reliably with usage growing steadily.  Unfortunately the spread of COVID-19 was to have a major impact on the operation of the service; with it suspended completely from Saturday, 28 March 2020 until Monday, 06 July 2020.

With the Scottish Government now beginning to ease lockdown restrictions,  ACBuG Trustees are looking at opportunities in the months ahead to develop the Town Bus Service; including setting a specific passenger growth target.  Hopefully as local facilities reopen and community groups begin to meet again, the Town Bus will help people to travel around the Lang Toon.

We are also keen to support local residents who may be somewhat cautious about travelling on the Town Bus.  When circumstances permit, Trustees will be happy to accompany people on their initial journeys and help them apply for a bus pass etc.

Additionally, prior to the autumn we aim to seek community-wide feedback on Services 49 and 49A.

We are really grateful for the continuing support we are receiving from local people, funders and key stakeholders.  Our thanks also go to Docherty’s Midland Coaches and their drivers for their ongoing professionalism.
